Intro
I am a student attending Penn State Hazleton. My hometown is Broomall, PA. I am majoring in Sports Journalism and minoring in Kinesiology. I am a second-year student and hoping to attend University Park in the Fall. One of the classes I am taking is CAS 100, which is a speech class. I believe that this class is the most important clas I'm taking this year. We socialize with each other and prepare to give speeches to the rest of the class. I have had three different speeches, that I had to share with the class, a narrative, an informative, and persuasive spech. I believe that after each speech I have given, I have felt more comfortable speaking to the class, and I have been more confident in myself, and what I say in my speeches. This class isn't just helping me now but it wil help me in the future. Right now, this class is helping to improve our social skills and our abilities to speak well. It helps keep the nervousness out and it makes other people not want to freak out when they have to present. I believe that this class will be the most important class that I take in my four years in college. When I graduate from Penn State I want to become a sports writer for Sportscenter or for ESPN. I probably would have to sit in front of the camera a few times and discuss different sports topics. This class will be helpful for me to speak in front of the camera and not feel so nervous. I will have to prepare myself and I will have to know what I will be saying. I choose to be a sports writer because I love sports. In 9th grade, I decided that I wanted to be an NBA player, but when I found out that, that wasn't in my future, I decided to stay in the same category. I felt that sports controlled me. Wherever there was a basketball I always had to pick it up and shoot. Now back to reality. When I become part of Sportscenter or wherever I might be. I will probably be ask the question, why do you want to be here? I will answer because I love sports, I love to write. But one thing that I had to work on was talking in front of people. CAS 100 (speech class) at Penn State helped me with that and I saw improvement. Mrs. Magabo pushed me into become a better speaker and that's what I am.
